Most apartment moves finish in one day with a crew of three to five. The variable that decides the schedule is not the flat but the tower: service lift booking, permitted moving hours, loading bay distance and the move-out deposit many buildings hold. We arrange all four before the day.
In a tower, the move happens in the building's time, not yours. One service lift may serve forty floors and be shared with two other moves and a maintenance contractor on the same morning. The job is won or lost in the booking, which is why we ask for your building name before we quote a date.
How does a service lift booking work?
You request a slot from building management, usually in writing and often three to five working days ahead. They allocate a window — commonly three or four hours — and expect the lift to be released on time because someone else has the next slot. Many buildings require padding to be fitted inside the lift car and hold a refundable deposit against damage to lobbies, corridors and lift doors. Both addresses need their own booking, and the two windows have to be compatible, which is the part people forget when they book a morning slot to move out and an afternoon slot to move in on the far side of the city.
What is a move-out deposit?
A refundable sum many towers hold while a move is in progress, released once management has inspected the common areas and found no damage. It is separate from your tenancy security deposit. The practical implication is that protecting the lift, corridor walls and lobby floor is not a courtesy but the thing standing between you and getting that money back, which is why our crews fit padding before the first box moves rather than after the first scratch.

Frequently asked questions
Can you move a studio in half a day?
Usually yes, with a crew of three, provided both buildings give you a lift slot in the same half of the day. Where a tower only offers an afternoon window at the destination, the job stretches even though the volume is small.
What if my building has no service lift?
We use the passenger lift with full padding where management permits it, or carry by stairs where it does not. Stair carries are charged by floor because they roughly double the crew time per load, so tell us the floor number at survey.
Do you provide boxes in advance?
Yes. We can drop cartons, tape and paper a few days ahead if you want to pack your own clothes and books, and the crew packs the kitchen and fragile items on the day. Items you pack yourself are treated differently for cover, so ask what applies.
Can you move on the same day I get the keys?
Often, but it is tight. The destination building normally will not issue a move-in permit until the tenancy is registered and the handover is done, and that can land on the same morning. Give us the handover date at booking so we can hold a slot rather than promise one.
