How Much Do Movers Cost in Dubai in 2026? A Room-by-Room Price Guide
In short
The cost of a Dubai move is driven by volume in cubic metres, how hard the property is to get furniture out of, and how much packing you want us to do. Nobody can price it accurately over the phone, which is why we survey first and then give a fixed written price.
What actually decides the price of a move in Dubai
Movers do not price bedrooms. They price volume, measured in cubic metres, and then adjust for how difficult that volume is to carry out of your home and into a truck.
Three things set the number:
- Volume. The total cubic metres of furniture and boxes. A sparsely furnished three-bedroom apartment can be smaller than a heavily furnished two-bedroom.
- Access. Whether there is a service lift, how far the truck can park from the door, whether the building allows a tail-lift, and what time of day you are permitted to work.
- Labour. How much packing, dismantling and reassembly the crew does rather than you.
Everything else — distance inside the city, materials, a wardrobe that has to come apart — is a smaller adjustment on top of those three.
Room by room: what each part of the home adds
The kitchen
Almost always the most expensive room to pack, and the one people underestimate. Crockery, glassware and small appliances need individual wrapping and dish barrels. A full family kitchen can take one packer the better part of a day on its own.
Wardrobes and bedrooms
Cheap by volume, slow by labour. Hanging clothes travel in wardrobe cartons rather than being folded, bed frames usually come apart, and mirrors and headboards need corner protection.
The living room and majlis
Large, light and awkward. Sofas are mostly air, so they add cubic metres without adding much weight — but a deep corner unit may not fit a lift and may have to go down the stairs, which changes the crew size.
White goods
Washing machines need their transit bolts, fridges need defrosting the night before, and both need to travel upright. If the transit bolts are long gone, say so at the survey rather than on the day.
The store room and balcony
The room nobody remembers when they estimate their own volume, and the single most common reason a truck turns out to be too small.
What a surveyor is measuring
A survey takes roughly twenty to thirty minutes. The surveyor records the volume room by room, then checks the things that decide how many people and how many hours the job needs: lift dimensions and whether it can be booked, the walk from the lift to where the truck can stand, stair turns, gate access in villa communities, and any item that will not fit through a door assembled.
That is also when to point out anything fragile, unusually heavy, or valuable enough that you want it handled separately.
What Dubai buildings add to the job
This is the part that catches people who have moved elsewhere. Most towers and many communities require paperwork before a truck arrives:
- A move-out NOC from the building management or the community.
- A service lift booking, usually for a fixed window rather than "sometime that morning".
- A gate pass for the vehicle in gated communities.
- Restrictions on which hours moves may take place — some buildings do not permit moves on Fridays or after a certain time.
None of it is difficult, but all of it takes days rather than hours, and a missed lift booking can cost you a full crew day. We handle these as part of the job.
Questions worth asking before you accept any quote
- Is this a fixed price or an estimate that can change on the day?
- What exactly is included — packing materials, dismantling, reassembly, the building paperwork?
- How many crew and how many vehicles, and what happens if the job runs over?
- Is the price inclusive of insurance, and what is actually covered?
- Is there a charge if the lift booking is refused or the access is worse than expected?
Get the answers in writing. A written, itemised quote is the only thing you can hold anyone to.
Why we will not quote a flat rate over the phone
Because we would be wrong. Two identical floor plans in the same tower routinely differ by a third once the volume is measured and access is checked. A number given over the phone is either padded to protect the mover, or low enough to win the booking and revised upward on moving day.
We survey, we measure, and we give you one fixed written price. What you are told on day one is what you pay.
